Subject: Wow! What a letter to the editor............

You gotta love this Canadian gal!!

something to think about.........Now if we could only get our Governments to feel this way. What a wounderful world it would be!!!!!!!

This was written by a Canadian woman, but oh how it also applies to the U.S. , U.K. and Australia

THIS ONE PACKS A FIRM PUNCH

Here is a woman who should run for Prime Minister!

Written by a housewife in New Brunswick , to her local newspaper. This is one ticked off lady.

*************
'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not
started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since?

Were 2819 people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day,
in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from the nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible,
burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?
And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be
tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents
for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start
caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan .

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking
off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed
throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come
out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by
hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search
of nirvana care about the innocent children within range &! ! nbsp;of their suicide bombs.
I'll care when the Canadian media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a CANADIAN soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:

I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank:

I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat,and 'fed special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:

I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed th! ! at sometimes it's spelled 'Koran'
and other times 'Quran.' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn you guessed it,

I don't care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail
friends Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this
ridiculous behavior!

If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should
you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country! And may I add:
'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a
difference in the world. But, the Soldiers don't have that problem.'
I have another quote that I would like to add, AND.......I hope you
forward all this.

One last thought fo r the day:

Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1. Jesus Christ

2. The Canadian Soldier.

3. The British Soldier.

4. The US Soldier, and

5. The Australian Soldier

One died for your soul, the other 5 for your freedom.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET ALL OF THEM.

AMEN!

Quake, Tsunami Kill at Least 14 in Pacific

Quake, Tsunami Kill at Least 14 in Pacific

o Photos from Brian Rippy of the inner harbor of Pago Pago after the tsunami. At least 14 people are confirmed dead, though the death toll may be higher after an 8.3-magnitude earthquake between the island chains of Samoa and American Samoa in the south Pacific generated tsunami waves. Photo

Towering tsunami waves spawned by a powerful earthquake swept ashore on two South Pacific island chains early Tuesday, killing at least 14 people and leaving dozens of others missing at devastated National Park Service facilities.

Mase Akapo, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, says the deaths occurred in four different villages on the main island of Tutuila, with six in the western area of Leone.

Although the Samoan government is only confirming 14 deaths, the toll may be higher. Samoan reporter says tsunami victims "are everywhere" in a hospital near a hard-hit area and the dead could number up to 20.

Associated Press reporter Keni Lesa said three or four villages on the popular tourist coast near the southern town of Lalomanu on Samoa's main island of Upolu had been "wiped out" by waves that roared ashore early Wednesday.

Lesa said he had visited the town's main hospital where "there are bodies everywhere," including at least one child.

Hampered by power and communications outages, officials struggled to assess the casualties and damage. The quake, with a magnitude between 8.0 and 8.3, struck around dawn about midway between Samoa and American Samoa.

The U.S. Geological Service, which estimated the magnitude at 8.0, said the quake struck 20 miles below the ocean floor, 120 miles from American Samoa and 125 miles from Samoa, with a 5.6-magnitude aftershock 20 minutes later.

A five-foot tsunami wave swept into Pago Pago, capital of American Samoa, shortly after the earthquake, sending sea water surging inland about 100 yards before receding, leaving some cars and debris stuck in mud. Electricity outages were reported, and telephone lines were jammed. The U.S. territory is about the size of Washington, D.C. and has a population of 65,000,

Reports differed, but tsunami waves are believed to have been as big as 20 feet high in places and reached as far as half a mile inland, reports CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker.

Radio host John Rayner was down the coast from Pago Pago. "It was just absolute frantic. People were saying 'go high' or go pray somewhere," he told Whitaker. "Get away from ocean as quickly as you can."

Mike Reynolds, superintendent of the National Park of American Samoa, was quoted as saying four tsunami waves 15 to 20 feet high roared ashore soon afterward, reaching up to a mile inland. Holly Bundock, spokeswoman for the National Park Service's Pacific West Region in Oakland, Calif., spoke with him from his vantage point under a coconut tree uphill from Pago Pago Harbor; he reported that the park's visitor center and offices appeared to have been destroyed.

Bundock said Reynolds and another park service staffer had been able to locate only 20 percent of the park's 13 to 15 employees and 30 to 50 volunteers. The National Park of American Samoa is the only national park south of the equator, a scenic expanse of reefs, picturesque beaches, tropical forests and wildlife that include flying foxes and sea turtles.

Residents in both Samoa and American Samoa reported being shaken awake by the quake, which lasted two to three minutes, then fleeing uphill out of fear of a tsunami. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a general alert from American Samoa to New Zealand, warning of the prospect of a "destructive" wave.

The ramifications of the tsunami could be felt thousands of miles away, with federal officials saying strong currents and dangerous waves were forecast from California to Washington state. No major flooding was expected, however.

Mase Akapo, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in American Samoa, said at least 14 people were killed in four different villages on the main island of Tutuila, while an unspecified number of people died neighboring Samoa, with reports of people and cars swept out to sea. Thousands of people were still huddled on high ground hours after the initial quake, which was followed by at three aftershocks of at least 5.6 magnitude.

An unspecified number of fatalities and injuries reported in the Samoan village of Talamoa. New Zealander Graeme Ansell said the beach village of Sau Sau Beach Fale was leveled.

"It was very quick. The whole village has been wiped out," Ansell told New Zealand's National Radio from a hill near Samoa's capital, Apia. "There's not a building standing. We've all clambered up hills, and one of our party has a broken leg. There will be people in a great lot of need 'round here."

Schools and businesses were closed, with the Samoan capital virtually deserted.

"Our house has been taken by the tsunami and we have lost everything," Teresa Sulili Dusi told National Radio, adding that "everything dropped on the floor and we thought the house was going to go down as well. Thank God, it didn't."

Local media said they had reports of some landslides in the Solosolo region of the main Samoan island of Upolu and damage to plantations in the countryside outside Apia.

American Samoa Gov. Togiola Tulafono was at his Honolulu office assessing the situation but was having difficulty getting information, said Filipp Ilaoa, deputy director of the office.

"There is some water damage to residences," Ilaoa said. "To what extent and how much, and how many villages are effected, that is a mystery at this time."

Rescue workers found a scene of destruction and debris with cars overturned or stuck in mud. The staff of the port ran to higher ground, and police soon came by, telling residents to get inland. Several students were seen ransacking a gas station/convenience store.

In Fagatogo, water reached the waterfront town's meeting field and covered portions of the main highway, which was plagued by rock slides.

Rear Adm. Manson Brown, Coast Guard commander for the Pacific region, said the Coast Guard is in the early stages of assessing what resources to send to American Samoa.

"We're going to assume, because a tsunami of this sort is probably going to wreak havoc in the port, we're going to have to get additional personnel and supplies down through the airport," Brown told reporters in Honolulu.

The earthquake and tsunami were big, but not on the same large scale of the 2004 Indonesian tsunami that killed more than 150,000 across Asia the day after Christmas in 2004, said tsunami expert Brian Atwater of the U.S. Geological Survey in Seattle.

The 2004 earthquake was at least 10 times stronger than the 8.0 to 8.3 measurements being reported for Tuesday's quake, Atwater said. It's also a different style of earthquake than the one that hit in 2004.

The tsunami hit American Samoa about 25 minutes after the quake, which is similar to the travel time in 2004, Atwater said. The big difference is there were more people in Indonesia at risk than in Samoa.

At least 19 people have died, more are reported to have been swept out to sea, and whole villages have been wiped out after a powerful 8.3-magnitude earthquake sent tsunami waves smashing into the coast of Samoa this morning.

South Pacific Earthquake Tsunami Hits Apia, West Somoa and Pago Pago in American Samoa

Officials with the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have issued a tsunami warning for Hawaii, New Zealand and other small Pacific islands following a powerful earthquake in the Samoa Islands region.

The U.S. Geological Survey and the NOAA report that an earthquake measuring between 7.9 and 8.3 magnitude struck about 180 kilometers east of Tonga in the South Pacific. The earthquake had a depth of 35 kilometers.

No reports of damage or injuries have been reported so far. However, NOAA is reporting waves of up to 1.57 meters off the coasts of Apia, West Samoa and Pago Pago in American Samoa.

Holy Harmony

Holy Harmony

Holy Harmony Healing Sounds by Jonathan Goldman with Sarah Benson

by Jonathan Goldman with Sarah Benson

HOLY HARMONY contains two never before released Sacred Sounds:

Tuning Forks of the complete HEALING CODES of the BIBLE combined with the chant of YHSHV (Yod Hey Shin Vav Hey), an ancient Name of the Christ.

These 9 tuning forks are said to be the Divine frequencies of creation. Some believe the sounding of them is said to fulfill certain Biblical prophecies.

Others believe these frequencies have extraordinary healing and transformational properties.

The YHSVH Chant is a powerful word of prayer, or a mantra, that is composed of specific letters of the Hebrew alphabet that create a sacred name for the Christ.

The Chant can be used for protection, for clearing, and to resonate with the Christ energy.

As the Healing Code Tuning Forks sound together with Jonathan Goldman and Sarah Benson’s beautiful and rich choral chanting, they create an extremely powerful , yet deeply calming sonic environment.

The combination of the Tuning Forks with the YHSVH Chant is great for relaxation and meditation.

These sounds may also be extremely healing and transformational.

This Holy Harmony CD is the one Dr. Leonard Horowitz made special reference to on Coast to Coast

Raindrop Therapy with Young Living Essential Oils

Raindrop Therapy

D. Gary Young, founder of Young Living Essential Oils, was taught by the Lakota Indians a healing technique that Gary called, Raindrop Therapy Technique.

Wallace Black Elk, a Lakota medicine man, related the story to Gary of how the Lakota people used to migrate to Canada each spring. They would then experience the beauty and healing benefits of the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights.

The Lakota people would raise their hands high into the sky, using them as antennas pulling this beautiful vibrant energy from the dancing lights, inhaling the energy and pushing it up the spine. They believed that these enchanting lights had the power to raise their personal energy level and to make them well.

The United States and Canada borders were completed in the 1800's. The Lakota people could no longer travel north to experience the wonderful energizing effects of the Northern Lights. Feathers were then used instead to raise their energy, brushing them lightly up the spine.

Gary began studying essential oils. Essential Oils were used in ancient times to lift the spirit and increase the energies of the body. The Bible has many examples of oils being used to anoint and cleanse the body. The ritual of applying oils was practiced with the purest intentions in the hope of bringing great joy and relief to both, those who gave and those who received it.

Gary studied the beneficial effects of therapeutic-grade essential oils on spinal malformations and other difficulties of the body. Remembering what Wallace Black Elk had taught him, he was inspired to use a brushing technique similar to what is used by the Lakota, when applying the oils. The result is the famous Raindrop Technique, which has benefited thousands.

The Raindrop Technique is often used with Vita-Flex which means "vitality through the reflexes." It is a special form of massage. These two techniques are very different from traditional reflexology and back massage. They do not employ heavy pressure, pushing, or any form of spinal manipulation. The essential oils gentle action is what brings about the remarkable results.

Raindrop Therapy combines aromatherapy, vita flex, and more to create a healing and cleansing massage. This therapy is to bring total balance, a sense of harmony, and body wellness, including mental, physical, and emotional through the techniques used. The premise behind this massage therapy is the use of specific antimicrobial essential oils applied in a particular sequence with various techniques which reduces the body’s inflammations and destroys any viral presence. Original theory behind this is to heal problems of the spine; however modifications can be incorporated into the therapy to treat other conditions. Raindrop therapy focuses on the application of a number of specific essential oils to various parts of the body through a combination of techniques.

What Are the Principal Oils Used in Raindrop Therapy? Contains: Seven Single Oils (5ml bottles): Thyme, Basil, Peppermint, Oregano, Wintergreen, Cypress and Marjoram. Two Oil Blends (5ml bottles): Valor® & Aroma Seiz™. Also contains one 4-oz. bottle of Ortho Ease® Aromatherapy Massage Oil and one 4-oz. V-6™ Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex. The oils are dropped onto the back from a height of about six inches, hence the name, "Raindrop". The oils are then lightly brushed with the fingertips until they are absorbed into the skin, infusing the body with their positive properties.

The statement from the Essential Oils Desk Reference sums it up: "RAINDROP technique is a powerful, non-invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine. During the years that it has been practiced, it has resolved numerous cases of scoliosis and kyphosis and eliminated the need for back surgery for thousands of people. Raindrop Technique originated in the 1980s from the research of D. Gary Young working with a Lakota medicine man named Wallace Black Elk. It integrates Vitaflex and massage, utilizing the power of essential oils in bringing the body into structural and electrical alignment."

Does Your 404 Error Page Make You Money?

Have you ever visited a website, but typed in the wrong
url after the domain name? What did you see?

Chances are you saw a generic page that said something
like, "The page cannot be displayed," or "Not Found,"
or "The requested URL was not found on this server
."

This is what is more commonly known as the 404 Error
Page.
It's the page that shows up by default when
someone 'accidentally' types in the address of the page
they are looking for on your site incorrectly.

Now, in many cases, it truly happens by mistake. However,
in many other instances, people end up on this page
because they are snooping around trying to look for your
download page or thank you page without having to pay
or opt-in. Kind of shady, but people do it.

Why, not capitalize on it whether they are doing it
purposely or they are truly ending up there by accident.
If you have your own website and it gets traffic, some
of your visitors are ending up on that page. Now, if
they are seeing the generic message that their browser
shows them when it happens, then you are not making
good use of your web real estate.

Every page of your website can put money in your pocket.
Even your 404 error page.
You can customize that page
just like any other page on your website.

Some ideas to utilize on that page include:

-Making an special offer at a discounted price.
-Having it be a squeeze page.
-Making it an Adsense page.
-Redirecting it to a related affiliate product.

Those are just a few of the many different, yet profitable
types of ways you can make good use of your 404 error page.

It won't make you rich, but it definitely will put some
extra money in your account. Maybe it will help you pay
one of your bills, or you can just reinvest it into your
business.

Either way, if you don't customize this page, you can be
leaving money on the table. Having something for your
visitors to see that end up on that page is extremely more
beneficial to you then not having anything on that page.

Here's to making good use of every page on your website.

All the best,
GC

The Next Big Boom

The Next Big Boom

Let’s Look at Recent Data on the
Candle Industry

Candles are a $2 Plus Billion
Industry and Growing

Candles are burned in 80% or more of
all homes in USA

Candle use has increased since 9/11

People burn candles to:

Put themselves in a good mood

Create a romantic environment

Relieve stress

Brand Name Recognition

"Have you ever burned a Mia Bella
Candle?" That simple sentence is being repeated all over the country
by independent distributors and their customers. As the Mia Bella
Candle develops name brand recognition, the potential for this
product to eventually convert a huge percentage of the current
candle buying consumer gets bigger and better every day.

What if, in the next 5 years only 10%
of those buyers "switched" to Mia Bella? The potential is huge
because of the quality of the product and because "word of mouth"
marketing can create that market demand much quicker than other
forms of distribution!

Company Check List

There are 5 essential characteristics
that a company must have to survive long-term in this industry. As I
go through these five areas, take note and see if what you have done
before you might find that one or more of these areas were missing
or lacking, thereby reducing your possibilities of success. I’m
going to list them and let’s see how Scent-Sations stacks up.

LOW UNIT COST - In other words, a
broad segment of the American population must be able to afford
these products.

IT MUST BE HIGHLY CONSUMABLE - You
must be able to make a sale and have the product get used up or
consumed and re-purchased over and over again by the same consumer.

THERE NEEDS TO BE A CERTAIN MYSTIQUE
OR EXCLUSIVITY - That is to say you can’t run down to your local
Wal-Mart and buy this same quality of product at the same price or
less money.

THERE NEEDS TO BE AN ADEQUATE
MANAGEMENT TEAM IN PLACE - Proven leaders who have been there done
that, and willing to bring on qualified people to build a worldwide
company.

THERE NEEDS TO BE AN ADEQUATE PROFIT
MARGIN - To fund both the company and the distributors network.

How Does Scent-Sations Stack Up?

Does it Have Low unit Cost? Cost is
within the reach of every American family and right in line with
best selling competitors.

Is it Highly consumable? You be the
judge.

Mystique or Exclusivity? Formula that
nobody else has that allows candle to burn clean and at same time
hold fragrance.

Adequate management? Integrity and a
desire to help people make money is the driving force behind our
company. Years of experience in the field as distributors has given
Bobby and Charlie the experience and empathy for the distributors
challenges. They know what we do and know what it takes to build a
business. They also know how to run a business. They put a lot of
time and effort into making things right for us.

Adequate profit margin? 100% markup -
Unheard of in most network marketing or direct sales opportunities!
How about getting paid on 10% of the commission able volume of every
person you sponsor and 5% on every person they sponsor, and 5, 5, 5,
and a whopping 10% on level six.

How You Get Paid

1. Retail

There are so many ways to retail Mia
Bella Candles and other Scent-Sations products. Here are a few:

Home Parties: This is turning out to
be one of the most pleasant surprises of our program. At first we
heard from distributors with absolutely no home party experience
doing over $1,000 in a single home party but now we are also
attracting distributors simply because our home party business is so
easy to do and so much more lucrative than traditional home party
companies. Why? Because we allow you to literally double your money
when you sell Mia Bella candles!

Shows/Booths: Many of our
distributors are doing small and big shows and booths and they are
having incredible success at not only making huge retail profits but
signing on new distributors directly at those shows!

Three Foot Rule: (walking and
talking) the smell and sell program. It doesn't get any easier than
this. Simply ask anyone if he or she burns scented candles and when
you get a yes, open the top from your Mia Bella and do the "smell
and sell" demonstration! Talk about putting money in your pocket
with ease and comfort!

2. Fund-Raisers

Many network marketing companies have
tried to get into the fund-raising arena but not many have succeeded
simply because of the pricing of their products. Mia Bella
represents a product that is not only highly competitive in the
fund-raising market but also represents one of the hottest products
in fund-raising... candles!

We are already seeing distributors
who are putting together fund-raisers that are selling hundreds of
candles. In fact, on our company website we feature a story about a
young high school girl whose group earned over $3,000 in profits in
one small fund-raiser!

The potential for distributors to
earn incredible part time AND even full time income in fund-raising
alone is available thru this program!

3. Sponsoring and Team Building

PHASES OF GROWTH IN NETWORK
MARKETING: A lot of people are under the impression that the ONLY
time to get involved in a network marketing program is at the very
beginning. Well, the truth is that this is probably one of the WORST
times to get involved.

There is no product, company or
income recognition during the first 18 months of a company’s growth.
The 2nd phase of growth is usually one of the best times to get
involved and Scent Sations has just entered that phase of growth. We
are already seeing record breaking volumes and sign ups each month
because we have entered this stage of growth.

As we go thru our 2nd and 3rd stage
of growth into momentum we will see a consistent upward growth and
people who never dreamed of being successful in this kind of
business will see themselves earning more money, meeting more
incredible people and traveling to more luxurious places in the next
5 years than they could have had happen in a lifetime without it!

SQIP - Could this be the next Internet success story?

SQIP - Could this be the next Internet success story?

Hello,

Now, I have no idea if this company will be a huge success or a big fat flop.
If it is the next big success story, then many will stand to profit in a big way.

"After talking to the CEO, Christian Fortune on the phone for an hour recently, I feel more confident this could be the next Internet business success story. He appears to be very genuine and told me he has assembled a team of top notch professionals to pull this off." ....
Nick Hetcher of TwitterBreak.com

I thought you may want to know about this and at the least, check them out.

They are giving 100 FREE shares in SQIP if you join "now" (at time of this writing on 2/13/09), , with apparently no catches.

So, if that's all we did (collect the 100 shares), without having to give any personal or banking info, or ss# to the company, my thoughts are, what have I got to lose?
Possibly a LOT to gain for a small amount of my time. If you are uneasy about any of this, then this opportunity is NOT for you (Please stop reading now)

SO, WHAT IS SQIP??
  • Remember Yahoo in 1996?
  • Remember Ebay in 1997?
  • Remember Google in 1998?

Imagine if you had grabbed some shares in the beginning!!!

Well...SQIP is a new (very powerful) social networking portal...at its beginning.

Again, for a limited time you get a 100 shares free when you open your Zero cost SQIP account.

The sqip portal is “jam packed” with sites and features that are always no charge to use.

GET THIS… SQIP advertising stakholders share all the earnings and benefits.

SOME OF THE FREE PERKS OF SQIP…

  • Unlimited no charge auctions and stores.
  • Biz networking- profile and find new business contacts.
  • Social Bookmarking with: tracking, multimedia, favorites, sharing, feedback, etc.
  • Zero cost Dating: profile, in depth search, pictures, webcam, messaging, live chat, favorites, fans, privacy protection.
  • Zero cost email accounts.
  • Selling B2B or B2C: no charge listings, catalogs, uploads, & more.
  • Sqip messenger will blow away the competition: IM, voice/video, etc.
  • Sqip Answers.
  • Back office: your referrals, stakeholder shares, & commissions.
  • Earn commissions on referral purchases 5 levels deep.
  • Sqips Towah Master Card.

Think of SQIP as kind of like combining: Yahoo, Twitter, Google, MySpace, Linkedin and Facebook combined. Then throw in some "Red Bull" to the mix.

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON THIS ARE…

I have nothing to lose by signing up, telling some
friends, and waiting to see how things progress with Sqip. I may even buy a few
(not a lot right now) shares also (besides the 100 f.ree shares we get just for joining).
If you agree with my thinking, you may want to join free and tell some friends.

I’d advise NOT spending much (if any) money on "extra" shares yet, until
they prove themselves. Certainly not more than you can afford to lose (just
being very cautious and safe). I am not making any income guarantees, as I
have absolutely no idea what will happen here.

For a very short time get 100 shares at NO Charge when you
open your Zero cost SQIP account today. Limited Time Offer.

Lennar files suit over Chinese drywall

Miami-based Lennar Homes has filed a lawsuit against manufacturers and sellers of Chinese drywall, including Knauf Plasterboard, Taishan Gypsum and Florida-based Banner Supply Co.

The suit alleges that Knauf and Taishan sold “defective gypsum” drywall that was installed in homes built by Lennar, which “caused substantial damage” to Lennar in Florida.

The suit was filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court by attorneys with the Miami office of Greenberg Traurig.

Mark Sustana, general counsel for Lennar, said in a written statement that Lennar took responsibility for the problems drywall caused in its homes. He said the company expects Knauf and others to do the same.

“Unfortunately, they have refused to take responsibility for their defective product, leaving us no other option but to seek redress in a court of law,” he said.

Lennar’s complaint also charges 12 installers with breach of contract and breach of express and implied warranty.

The suit seeks unspecified damages for alleged harm done to Lennar’s reputation. It also seeks damages for the costs to investigate the problem, replace the drywall and provide housing while repairs are made.

The lawsuit states the drywall problems came to Lennar’s attention because of complaints about failures of heating/air conditioning coils in a small number of its communities in Florida.

Lennar’s statement emphasized it did not directly purchase the drywall from China, did not specify at any time that Chinese drywall be used as a substitute for domestic product and did not bargain for a discount or “any other financial benefit from the use of Chinese drywall.”

On Jan. 21, Lennar said it has identified about 80 homes in Southwest Florida that are believed to have been built using Chinese drywall and was paying to fix the problems in those homes.

Lennar has acknowledged finding the problem drywall in two homes in Miami-Dade County, but it did not provide exact locations.

The drywall emits sulfur gases linked to complaints about rotten-egg odors, health concerns and corrosion in metal and air conditioners.

The homes were built in 2005 and 2006, during the real estate boom.

The company said independent subcontractors installed the drywall in some homes and that Lennar did not know it was being used.

Another builder in Miami-Dade County, South Kendall Construction, two weeks ago acknowledged the problem drywall was found in its Keys Gate subdivision in Homestead.

In a statement, Knauf said it has hired toxicologists that found no human health concerns associated with the drywall. It said it would “vigorously” defend itself against the suit. Attempts to reach Taishan have not been successful.

Lennar, the nation’s second-largest homebuilder, said it set up a special task force to address homeowners’ concerns and fix the problem.

Beating the Recession

Bryan Menell (left) and Josh Baer are helping other entrepreneurs pool their money for a startup investment process that will be new to Austin.

20 entrepreneurs get into investment game

Twenty Austin entrepreneurs are pooling money and mentorship skills to help launch three or four technology startups during a boot camp-type program this summer.

The group, called the Capital Factory, is basing its funding model on Y Combinator, a California-based micro venture capital firm that stresses investing small amounts of capital combined with plenty of guidance from a network of experienced entrepreneurs.

The Austin group plans to begin accepting applications in March and expects to select two to four companies in April. The program, designed to develop a business plan and identify a customer base for each startup, would operate from May 22 to Aug. 2, Managing Director Joshua Baer said.

Capital Factory members would create a $100,000 fund — contributing $5,000 apiece — and back entrepreneurs with up to $20,000 coupled with plenty of advice on starting a business.

I Do not know what the problem was with Facebook. I think it will be resolved.
If it was because of a misunderstanding of Network Marketing or MLM
I think there needs to be clarification.
Network Marketing and MLM are people to people marketing.
People telling others what they like about a product or service.
And getting paid for the advertising.
Most of us do the same thing for other BIG Businesses,
Without getting paid.
We tell our friends about a movie we like, or a product or service we like,
and we do not get paid for the free advertising
we do for the movie, product, or service.

A Sacred Place I like

Man of Prayer Photo by GC Jones
A Shepherd of Southern Utah

My First Deer Friend

During WWII my family moved to a farm in Southeastern Idaho. We had a farm bordering the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, near the Chesterfield Reservoir, Chesterfield, Idaho, which feeds the Portneuf River.
When I was a youngster, I was out in the field where my father was doing the spring plowing. I was sitting in our Jeep at the time, when my father came on around the field on the Caterpillar D6 tractor. His loud whistle startled me, he got off the tractor and started toward me, and I went to meet him. I thought he had a duck in his arms. It turned out to be a very small weak fawn. He went on to plowing and I to cuddling my new friend. As father came back on around the field, he whistled at me again. I met him as he brought me another little fawn. They were so very small and cute. I just loved them. I fed them on our cows milk. We learned that the Indians on the Reservation which bordered our farm had shot a wet doe, for food, which had left our baby deer without a mother. I raised those dear deer until they were full grown, and penned them up during deer season to protect them. But then after season some unkind man came and picked up my fine friend after season one year. I was so sad to loose such dear deer friends. We used to run out through the fields together. I was surely entertained by my animal friends. I had a mare and colt in the pasture next to the farm house. I also had a fine dog we called Brownie. He was brown and black with brown eyebrows. He was very smart, and when it was time to milk the cows, I would say "Brownie, go get the cows." He would head out over the hilly fields and bring the cows to me for milking. I remember when the dog, the colt and the deer would play tag. The dog would chase the colt, and nip at its hind feet. The colt would then take after the deer and nudge it on its rump. Then the deer would run after the dog, raise up on its rear legs and tap the dog on the back. They would run all around the pasture playing like this for near a half hour at a time. It was such a joy to watch them play. I do love the animals. Who ever calls animals dumb, have not had the experiences I have with animals. I have witnessed animals, apparently reading my mind (that is another true story). They have great intelligence, if we would just learn to communicate as well.

There is much to see and enjoy in Southeastern Idaho.

Effective or Irritating: The Use of Pop Windows in
Internet Marketing

By GC Jones

A few years ago, pop-up windows were all the rage in Internet marketing. It seemed that every time one opened a web page they would be bombarded with offers for this or that. It had gotten to the point where surfing the Internet was almost like playing a video game; when the ads would pop-up one would try and close them out before another one came. This is precisely why we have seen the decline in the use of
pop-up windows on the Internet today; surfers simply do not even look at the pop-ups anymore. They close the windows out before even reading the ad. Very often, a surfer will even leave your site if there are too many pop-up ads. They simply do not want the hassle of closing those windows while trying to obtain
the information that your site has to offer. This
information, while valuable, is not as valuable as the surfers time. Studies have shown however, that even with these set backs, pop-up windows are still an effective method of Internet Marketing.

Is there some way that pop-up windows can be less irritating and still be effective? Yes! What if the pop ad were seen upon exiting your site instead of entering? This would allow the surfer to obtain the information that they need from your site, feeling that they were able to come and go quickly without being hassled by other ads and offers all the while making the surfer happy. You have left the surfer with a positive attitude and therefore are more likely to respond to the pop advertisement. This is being accomplished more and more by using what is being called pop-under windows. When the surfer comes to your site, the ad is opened discretely behind the your web page. Then, upon leaving your site, after obtaining all the information that they need , will see the ad and therefore be more likely to respond. Since the surfer has the information, he has achieved
his objective and is now open to do other things;
ideally respond to the pop under advertisement.

Not all pop-windows are created equally. There are some things that you can do to make your pop-windows, whether pop-up or pop-under more effective. The pop-window should be easy to “escape” from. If the surfer does not want to see the add, but has a hard time closing it out, they will likely become frustrated and could leave your site all together. You should either use a button to that will allow the surfer to close the window or be sure that the “x” is easily visible. Another good idea is to use a script
that utilizes cookies. Cookie will prevent
pop-windows from overloading the surfer since you can decide the frequency of the pop-windows, rather than each time a page is opened. Also be sure that there is no more than one pop-window per page.

When creating a pop-window, you will be asked to fill out a short information form, select the length of cookies, and choose the layout of the pop-window. When choosing the design of the pop-window, you can increase the effectiveness by creating a large headline that includes benefits that will be most appealing to the customer. You should also consider using incentives and lastly do not ask the customer to
read a long and drawn out advertisement. Keep the message simple yet powerful and your pop-ads will be sure to generate profits for your site.

Getting Started: Creating a Business Plan

Getting Started: Creating a Business Plan

By GC Jones

You're excited. You have a great idea for a profitable online business. Maybe it is an original idea that has not been marketed online before. Maybe you have come up with a new spin on the ordinary. Whatever it is that has influenced you to start your online business,
be sure that you have a plan before you begin. This is not the time to “pick it up as you go”. These are some basic things that should be included in your business plan.

The business summary should give a brief description of the entire business and is an integral part of the overall business plan. After you have completed the business summary you should begin to list the objectives or the goals that you want to accomplish through the business. Next and perhaps most importantly, you should develop your marketing plan.
The marketing plan will address all the specifics of the business. When developing the marketing strategy you should consider the following:

The target market. The target market is the customers that you expect to see visiting your site. For example will your product be more appealing to college students or those who are in retirement?

Consider the competition for your product when
determining the marketing strategy. Choose a product that will be seen as unique and useful. Visit sites that are offering the same or similar products. Find out the cost, and how they are marketing their product. Finds out the pros and cons of their business and try to improve your product based on their flaws.

Research the various methods for advertising online. You should become educated about search engines and how they work since each one is different. Also be sure that you know how to submit your site to search engines. You should be prepared to spend a small amount of money on advertising, but the profits that you will gain from the advertisements will prove to be money well spent.

Think about pricing. Again, look at the competition and see what similar products are selling for. Pricing can play a big role in the success of your product since selling a product well below the average price may lead customer to think that there is a problem with the product or that it is not of the best quality. However, pricing items too high could also detour customers.

Determine the shipping method. Be sure that you know how products will be shipped so that you can have shipping details clearly posted on your site. If you are shipping things of great value, you should consider providing shipping insurance. Also think about shipping outside the country that you live in.

Think about the different methods of payment that you will accept. If your business does not accept credit cards, you should be ready to give up half if not more of your sales. If you decide to accept credit cards will you use a merchant account or will you use a third party credit card processing center? Both will help you get started and the third party processing center will handle all of the business so you don’’t have to. You should decide which you will use and also
if you will accept checks or money orders. It is
essential to have a secure server when taking credit cards.

These few things will help your online business to become a great success and also provide you with peace of mind knowing that you have thoroughly thought about and planned for the opening of your online business.
